The funeral service for Mr. Marion Wallace Sprayberry, 90, will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at K. L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with the Reverend Tim Moore and the Reverend Bobby Murphy officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Sprayberry peacefully passed away during the evening hours of on July 28, 2016 at Coosa Health and Rehab in Glencoe. Mr. Sprayberry was a devoted husband to his late wife, Marlene Sprayberry, and was the last of six brothers in his family. Mr. Sprayberry was a decorated Veteran who served his country in World War II. He was a retired executive with then-named, Southern Bell, now AT&T. Although Mr. Sprayberry and his late wife never had children of their own, he considered the dozens of nieces and nephews as his children. He was an accomplished golfer in his younger years, and was on the golf course at every opportunity. He was also a terrific dancer who taught many of his nieces and nephews some fancy moves. After the passing of his wife, Mr. Sprayberry lived at the McClellan Assisted Living Facility and made many wonderful friends there. Mr. Sprayberry is preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Marlene Sprayberry, one sister, and five brothers. He is survived by a sister, Sara Sprayberry Johnson, of Pinson; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the 9th floor medical staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, and the staff at the Coosa Valley Health and Rehab Center in Glencoe.
