After being stricken with polio, she went to work at a local bank, then changed jobs to the insurance profession. She overcame all adversities to ensure her ability to raise her two young sons in a Christain way. In 1955, she married A.U. "Red" Stewart Jr. In 1956, the family moved to Gadsden, where she continued to work in the insurance field with Ford Insurance, then later with Red Leach and Sons Insurance. She enjoyed working and meeting people until health issues caused her retirement. She was a member of Southside United Methodist Church for many years before her declining health forced her to stay home. Through family, she kept up on church activities and functions. As a devoted and loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she will be lovingly remembered by those who knew her. Louise was preceded in death by her husband, A.U.
