Oxford - Service for Martha Allen Wigley Snider, 79, will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church Oxford with the Rev. William (Buddy) Nelson, the Rev. Dean Pearce and the Rev. Stan Albright officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Snider died Tuesday at her home. Survivors include three sons, George Milton Wigley Jr, of Oxford, Charles Allen Wigley and his wife, Kim, of Anniston and Tull Cooper Wigley and his wife, Linda, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four grandchildren, Hamilton S. Wigley, Harrison A. Wigley and his wife, Amber, Charlsie D. Wigley and Callahan S. Wigley; devoted friend, James Ward. Mrs. Snider, an Oxford native, was a former teacher at Oxford High School where she retired in 1998 after teaching for 22 years. She was a graduate of Jacksonville State University where she received the Mary C. Forney Award as the Most Outstanding Student in the Graduate School of Education. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Alvin Snider; her parents, Tull and Doris Johnson Allen; her sister, Edith Allen Sparks and a brother Tull Cooper Allen Jr. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Oxford Public Library, 110 East 6th Street, Oxford, Alabama 36203 where the Doris Allen Oxford Room is named in honor of her mother.
