Anniston - Funeral services for Martha Chappell McMinn, 84, will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Union United Methodist Church with the Rev. Troy Douthit officiating. Burial will be in the Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church with K.L. Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Center directing services. Martha died on Sunday morning, February 3, 2013, at RMC in Anniston. She is survived by her one daughter, Cynthia McMinn, of Anniston; two sons, Thomas L. McMinn III, of Pell City, and James E. McMinn, of Birmingham; three sisters-in-law, Pat McMinn, of Weaver, Frances McDonald, of Rainbow City, and Ellie Fisher, of Anniston; her aunt, Catherine McCaa, of Sylacauga; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Martha was born in Anniston, Alabama on April 2, 1928 and graduated from Anniston High School in 1946. She met and married Thomas L. McMinn Jr., her husband of 65 years. They served all over the world during Chaplain McMinn's overseas tours in Japan, Korea, and Germany and had multiple assignments throughout the United States. Each home was a gathering place filled with love and laughter for friends and family. For the last 33 years of her life, they lived in Anniston. Martha loved people and was an immediate friend to everyone she met. She enjoyed stained glass work, cooking, and many kinds of needle work, especially smocking and creating heirloom christening gowns. She took pride in growing orchids, raising Labrador retrievers, and canine obedience training.
