A great family reunion started on Friday, May 10, 2013, when Heaven welcomed Martha M. Butterworth, 84, of Oxford, Ala., into their Heavenly Choir. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford with Pastor Steve Johnson, of Cheaha Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends on this evening from 5 until 8 p.m., at the Miller Funeral Home. Burial will be at Forestlawn Gardens. Martha will forever be remembered by her sons, Steve Butterworth (Judy) and Kenneth Butterworth (Martha), of Oxford; grandchildren, Shane Butterworth (Holly), of Dallas, Ga., Michael Butterworth (Stephanie), of Oxford, Jeff Butterworth, of Heflin, Noah Smith, of Oxford and Amanda Payne (Heath), of Weaver; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Cooper and Courtney Butterworth. of Dallas, GA; Brodie, Chloe and Addison Payne, of Weaver and Celia Lopez, of Oxford; brother, Clayton McKenzie (Edna Dean), of Oxford; sisters, Mildred Williams, of Oxford and Edna Smith, of Alexandria; sister-in-law, Kathryn McKenzie, of Saks and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. She was a retiree of Southern Tool, where she was a mentor for and well-respected by her "younger" co-workers. She was a faithful member of Cheaha Baptist Church, where she was assistant pianist and Sunday School Teacher. Not only did she attend her Church home regularly, her servant's heart led her to provide needed transportation for others to attend also. She loved to cook and was frequently found sharing that talent with family and friends. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and could always be found in front of the TV when it was time for the game to start. She will always be remembered as part of the McKenzie Family Quartet. The Family spent many years singing and during their travels made many life-long friends. Pall Bearers will be Shane Butterworth, Michael Butterworth, Jeff Butterworth, Joe Beard, George Williams and Doug McKenzie. Honorary Pall Bearers are the members of her Sunday School Class. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Marion "Doodle" Butterworth; her parents, Henry and Dovie McKenzie and her brother, Rev. George McKenzie. Martha was a blessing to all who knew and loved her. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her bright spirit and sweet smile will be missed by all.
