A memorial service for Mrs. Mary Elaine McDaniel, 73, will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2015, at Golden Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Roland P. Brown officiating. Mrs. McDaniel passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at her home in Anniston. Mrs. McDaniel had been a member of Golden Springs Baptist Church for the last 17 years. She had been a member of the Persephone Garden Club and the New Friends of Anniston, both since 1994. She was also a former member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary. Mrs. McDaniel loved traveling, walking on the beach, arts and crafts, reading, gardening, watching movies and spending time on her Kindle. She has courageously fought cancer for the last 21 years. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Jim McDaniel; a daughter, Tami Sue McDaniel King and her husband, Jeff, of Covina, Calif.; a son, Scott Patrick McDaniel, of Anniston; two grandchildren, Rachel Ann King, of San Francisco, Calif. and James Patrick McDaniel, of Oxford; a special cousin, Charles Varbel and his wife, Trudy, of Ozark and an aunt, Betty Brown and her husband, Robert, of Torrence, California.
