The funeral service for Mrs. Mary Glosson Eccleston, 92, will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with the Reverend Donnie Sills officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at funeral home. Mrs. Eccleston passed away on May 9, 2016 at Piedmont Health Care. Mrs. Eccleston was a longtime member of Central Presbyterian Church in Anniston and was active in the women's work in the church. She was also a member of Anniston First United Methodist Church and the Carre Sunday School Class for over 40 years. Mrs. Eccleston was an excellent and talented seamstress and made many of her daughters' prom dresses and wedding gowns. She also loved cooking for her family. She along with her late husband, travelled the southeast square dancing and ballroom dancing for over 25 years. She worked for over 20 years in the ticket office of the Talladega Speedway. Those who knew her knew she had a sharp wit and a sharp tongue to match. She never had a problem telling you what she thought about a particular subject. Mrs. Eccleston is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert "Bob" L. Eccleston; her parents, Verner and Mae Glosson and a grandson, Christopher Lee Kilgore. Mrs. Eccleston is survived by her daughters, Joan Hixon, of Jacksonville and Susan Ranson and her husband, Bill, of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Robert Brian Kilgore and his wife, Jennee, Edward Ranson, Lori Enslen and her husband, Eric and Lane Eyestone; great-grandchildren, Azrai Kilgore, Allicia Stanley, Allexia Saxman, Michael Hixon, Mary Kate Alexander, Kali Alexander, Ivy Eyestone, Penelope Eyestone, Sydney Kinner and Logan Kinner. Pallbearers will be Bill Ranson, Brian Kilgore, Randall Davis, Bill Briggs, George Tyler, and Matt Sitzner. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Carre Sunday School Class at Anniston First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Anniston First United Methodist Church, 1400 Noble Street, Anniston, AL 36201; Jacksonville First United Methodist Church, 109 Gayle Avenue SW, Jacksonville, AL 36265 or West Weaver Baptist Church, 1021 Otsego Avenue, Weaver, AL 36277. The family wishes to thank the staff of Piedmont Health Care Center, the caregivers at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital and Teri Haney for the wonderful care and consideration given to their family.
