Mary Helen Freeman, 86, of Piedmont, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014, at her residence. Born in Piedmont to Thomas and Onnie Agnes Hart Waits, she worked at the cotton mill, married and moved to Maryland. She raised 5 children and moved to Sebastian, Fla. to live and work. After retirement in 1985 she returned to Piedmont. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles B. Freeman; son, Charles A. Freeman; brothers, Jack Waits and Thomas Waits; sisters, Lucille Kirk and Ida Buttry. She is survived by son, Daniel (Carolyn) Freeman; daughters, Theda (Jim) Furtado, Donna (Dennis) Stitz and Crystal (James) Bernot; sisters, Polly Brown and Norma Brown; 15 grandchildren; 23 great- grandchildren; and 1 great - great grandchild. Funeral Service will be held today May 21, 2014, at 3 p.m. from Dansby Heritage Chapel with the Rev. Sam Roe officiating. Visitation will be from 2 – 3 p.m. with burial in Highland Cemetery. Flowers are accepted or memorials to New Beacon Hospice. Dansby Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the Freeman Family.
