Mary Jewel Ward was born in Montgomery, Alabama, on April 26, 1920, and died at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis on February 9, 2013, in Memphis. Prior to living in Memphis, she was a long-time resident of Anniston, where she worked for her father's medical practice and later for Wakefield's. She was a graduate of Anniston High School and David Lipscomb College and a long-time member of the 25th and Noble Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Ward; sister-in-law, Alberta Ward; father and mother (Dr. John Durden and Jewel). She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Lynn Richardson, of Midland, Texas; two grandsons, Jon Richardson and his wife, Coralie, of Covington, Ky., Clark Richardson, of Falls Church, Virginia, and a cousin Muffet Glass, of Anniston. Mary was a member of the Bartlett Woods Church of Christ. A memorial service will be held at the Bartlett Woods Church of Christ at 7 p.m. on February 23, 2013. Mary donated her body to the University of Tennessee Medical School. Memorials in her honor can be made to Bartlett Woods Church of Christ Library Fund,
or LeBonheur Children's Medical Center.
