She graduated from Benjamin Russell High School in 1957 and graduated from Auburn University School of Chemistry with a B.S. degree in Medical Technology in 1961. In 1962, she completed her Medical Technology internship at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana, and became registered with the American Board of Clinical Pathology. She worked for the VA Hospital in Birmingham for four years before she worked at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, where her husband was stationed in the U.S. Army as a Dental Officer. When her husband's dental practice led the family to Anniston, she decided to become a homemaker. She became a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church in 1970 where she was an active member of the sanctuary choir, hand bell choir, and the ladies' ensemble and was a children's Sunday school teacher. She was the president of the WMU from 1984-1986. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother - thus her home became their den. She loved to play bridge. She was an avid gardener and traveler and beach enthusiast. She was an author of three books, "Pookie's Flight", "Pookie in Paris" and "Hanging Upside Down from a Chinaberry Tree". She helped raise two of her grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Samaritan's Purse P.O.
