Funeral Services with Military Honors for Master Sgt. (Ret.) Charles B. Fisher Jr., 72, of Anniston, will be Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Dr. Rick Reaves officiating. Interment will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 9, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. Mr. Fisher passed away Friday, September 6, 2013, at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Carole Fisher and his parents, Charles and Thelma Fisher. Survivors include his wife, Betty King Fisher; daughters, Pamela K. Langford and her husband, Col. Steve Langford, of Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., Vicki F. Wellman and her husband, Brian, of Strongsville, Ohio; son, Mike Fisher and his wife, Sonya, of Alexandria; grandchildren, Matthew Langford and his wife, Rachael, Kevin Langford, Lindsey Wellman, Luke Wellman, Andrew Fisher, Aaron Fisher, Aidan Fisher and Allison Fisher; brother, Gene Fisher, of Oxford; several nieces and nephews and a host of cousins. Mr. Fisher served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, from 1961 until his retirement in 1981. He was trained in aircraft maintenance for the KC135, in which he later served as Crew Chief. Upon retirement, he was the 1st Sgt. for the SAC 97th Bombardment Wing at Blytheville AFB, Arkansas. After his retirement from military service, Mr. Fisher served the Veterans of Alabama and the DAV for 27 years. PDC Fisher would go the extra mile to help any veteran in need. He served in Chapter 24 of Pell City and Chapter 98 of Anniston/Oxford. He held the following positions: DAV, Department of Alabama, Junior Vice Commander for 2nd District for two years; Aide de Camp to the national commander for two years; DAV, Department Inspector, Department of Alabama for two years; Assistant Chief of Staff to the National Commander for two years; started Chapter 98 in Anniston/Oxford; DAV, Commander, Department of Alabama 2012-2013; DAV, Department of Alabama Budget & Finance Committee for one year (his current position as JPDC); past Department Commander for DAV, Department of Alabama. Pallbearers will be Johnny Storey, Wayne Roberts, Alva Caine, Ray Morrison, Art Miller, Gary Cobb, James Graves and Dale Onstine. The Fisher family would like to thank the staff of Southern Care Hospice and Regional Medical Center for their outstanding care and comfort of our husband and father during his illness.
