Melody Hope (Whaley) Alred, 28, died Saturday, December 24, 2016, in Heflin. Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Freedom Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Cone, the Rev. Dewayne Palmer and the Rev. Jerome Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 5 - 7. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her husband, Bobby Alred; parents, Lynn and Lisa Whaley; sons, Canaan Bryce Whaley Griffin, Austin Creed Griffin, Malachi Lynn Hearn and Silas River Whaley Alred; step-sons, Dylan Ray Alred and Dalton Lee Alred; maternal grandparent, Margie Stewart; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Joyce Whaley; father-in-law, Milton Tidwell; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; ex-husband, David Griffin. Pallbearers will be Luke McCormick, Jonathan McComb, Shannon Williamson, Kyle Clifton, Matthew Whaley and Jason Norton. Honorary pallbearers will be The Class of 2006 and her four boys. Mrs. Alred was a native and lifelong resident of Cleburne County. Melody was a graduate of Ranburne High School and Southern Union Community College. She was a RN at Nolan Health Care. Melody loved each of her patients as if they were her own family. She was a loving wife and daughter, but most of all loved her four boys. Melody loved to spend her spare time catfishing.
