Funeral service for Melvia L. Gibbons Carter, 75, will be on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Springhill Baptist Church where the Rev. E. Tramine Solomon is pastor, the Rev. Larry Heard officiating. Interment will follow in Linville Community Cemetery. Mrs. Carter passed away on April 4, 2017. Mrs. Carter will arrive at the church one hour prior to her service. Mrs. Carter was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and served as an usher. She retired from Clay County Hospital by way of Twin Oaks Living Assistance. Survivors include her husband, Roy Joe Bob Carter Jr.; daughters, JoAnn Carter, Angela Wilson (Ricky), Sally Langston; sons, Bobby Carter (Raqual), Terry Carter (Elbony); grand children, Jonathan Carter, Whitney Harris, Chassity Langston, Tory Anderson, Trevon Bell, Cortez Carter, Xavier Carter, Bobby Carter, Jamiah Carter, Justin Carter, Maciah Carter; great-grandchildren, Jace, Jaylee, Rylan, and Autumn; siblings, Willie James Gibbons (Vivian), Leon Gibbons (Dean), Horace Gibbons (Janice), Clem Gibbons (Rena), Donald Gibbons (Wanda), Helen Delois Simmons (Eddie), Brenda Person (Douglas), and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Archie Lee Gibbons and Odessa Mae Gibbons; brothers, Norman Gibbons Sr., Archie Gibbons, Milton Gibbons and Milford Sam Gibbons.
