Melvin Lemar Bolt, 62, passed away on October 16, 2015 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center while vacationing in Destin, Florida. He was born in Anniston on July 23, 1953 to the late James Henry (J.H.) Bolt and Ola Mae Duke Bolt. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Shannon S. Bolt; three daughters, Jennifer Bolt, Cathy Miller (Robert) and Elizabeth Smith (Eric); one son, Brian Payne (Claire); grandsons, Dylan Miller, Parker Pruitt, Layton Smith and Landon Smith; granddaughters, Olivia Miller and Camilla Payne; brothers, Henry Bolt (Deborah) and Bobby Bolt (Kim); and four nephews and one niece. Melvin was a graduate of Auburn University in Electrical Engineering. He retired from Alabama Power after more than three decades of dedicated service. As a longtime member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Melvin was the Carpenters for Christ head chef and he had a heart for missions. A celebration of life will be held Friday, October 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn, Alabama.
