Mrs. Mergie Lee Glass

The funeral service for Mrs. Mergie Lee Glass, 91, will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with Dr. Rick Reaves officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville, Ala. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Glass passed away on February 2, 2017 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Glass was a native of Bashi, Ala. She lived in Mobile for many years and worked for a time at Brookley Air Force Base then devoted her life to raising her daughters and making a home for her family. She was very involved in her church work and worked diligently in many capacities including teaching Sunday school, Vacation Bible school, and many activities at her daughters' school. She loved to cook and would cater to each meal request. She moved to Calhoun County and joined Hill Crest Baptist Church where she was a member of the Good Timer's group at the church. She was also a member of the Homebound Sunday School Class at Hill Crest. She also loved participating in Trunk or Treat at the church. She will be affectionately remembered as "The Queen". Mrs. Glass is preceded in death by her husband, Percy Lamar Glass, and her sister, Maxine Bright. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Glass-Germany, of Demopolis, Linda Carol Temple, of Linden, and Dorothy Quarles and her husband, Terry, of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Jennifer Leann Germany, Tannon Christopher Temple, Taylor Lamar Quarles; great-grandson, Jackson Bradley Connell, Tobin Temple and Everett Temple; a niece, Darlene Stoudenmier and her husband, Mike, and their children, Leah Jordan, Brandon Stoudenmier and Andrew Stoudenmier. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hill Crest Baptist Church, 5117 Post Oak Road, Anniston, AL 36206. Online condolences may be made to the family at K.L.
