Graveside service for Mildred Maxine Lumpkin Hubbard, 81, of Lineville will be today August 20, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend David Harris officiating. Mrs. Hubbard passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014 at her residence. Maxine was born and raised in Clay County. She graduated from Lineville High School. She worked as a telephone operator in Anniston and in the lunchroom at Oxford High School. She spent the larger part of her life as a homemaker. She was constantly cooking, cleaning, and working in her yard. She will be forever remembered for raising and pouring unconditional love into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Cindy Michelle Hubbard, of Lineville, Lynda Martin (Freddy), of Marietta, Ga. and Donna Johnson, of Anniston; one son, Sammy Alan Hubbard (Kay), of Oxford; one sister, Maudine Lumpkin Griffin, of Lineville; one brother, Dick Lumpkin (Vivian), of Mableton, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Chris Martin, Lee Hubbard, Josh Smallwood, Crystal Craft, Pat Hubbard, Keelan Smallwood, Michael Martin, Samantha Kornegay and Mandy Hawi; six great-grandchildren, Skyler Smallwood, Kaleb Kornegay, Noah Smallwood, Jakeb Kornegay, Zoey Kornegay and Claire Martin. Mrs. Hubbard was preceded in death by her parents, John Dawson Lumpkin and Ethel Williams Lumpkin; her husband, H.D. "Sammy" Hubbard; one sister, Florence Lumpkin Barfield and six brothers, Ernest Lumpkin, Millard Lumpkin, Willard Lumpkin, R.V. Lumpkin, John Lumpkin and Burl Lumpkin. Pallbearers will be Lee Hubbard, Pat Hubbard, Josh Smallwood, David Griffin, Dick Lumpkin, Michael Martin, Keelan Smallwood and David Kornegay. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff of Alabama Hospice Care of Oxford.
