Our father, Millard Conner heard the trumpet and answered God's call leaving this world to go enjoy his heavenly home April 2, 2016. Born January 10, 1929, he was 87. Millard E. Conner, "Paw Conner" to the neighborhood, "Snowball" to his lifelong friends from Lee Brass, where he worked 46 years and Daddy to his children, lived to be the oldest Conner we know of. He served in the Navy during the Korean War on the USS IOWA BB-61. He was in his mind, lived alone and was self sufficient until the end. We couldn't have asked for more. We were blessed to have had the wonderful parents that we had. Daddy loved our Mama, Lourie Conner and his children. We may not have "had it all" but Daddy and Mama made sure we never did without anything important and most important we were taught to love, honor each other, to work, be productive members of society, and that nothing in life is free. He also taught us to be good neighbors, always help other people when we can and that Christ is our redeemer. Daddy tried to live his life as a witness for Christ and always shared Christ's message of hope and salvation with everyone, from the postman to his doctors and nurses. We are at peace with the life Daddy lived and the example he set for us. Everyone should be so blessed to have had the good parents we had. Survived by Connie Conner, Sandra Simpson, Millie Richardson, Miriam Lynn McCurry, Angela Conner, Flint Conner and Frank Burson his honorary son, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. We will celebrate sharing his life with family and friends at Drydens Funeral Home in Heflin, Alabama. Visitation will be today from 5 - 7 pm. On Wednesday, the funeral will be at Hepsabah Baptist Church at 2 pm. Heflin, Alabama. He will lie in state one hour prior to service. A light meal and fellowship will follow for anyone wishing to attend in the church fellowship hall. We would like to thank everyone for all your calls, texts, messages, food and prayers.
