Minnie Lee Tompkins Murray was born January 22, 1939 and died January 1, 2017, after a brief illness. Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 12 p.m. at the Jacksonville Congregational Holiness Church, Minnie's childhood church. She is survived by a daughter, Debra Murray Cloud (Jeff) and a son, Russell Murray; three grandsons, Preston Cloud, Russ and Carson Murray, and one great grandson, Kyle Brody Cloud; one sister, Ruby Mae Laughead (Bill); one brother, Ernest Tompkins (Nickol), and many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her dearly. She was a devoted mother, a caring sister, a wonderful aunt; the best confidant and friend. Her home was opened to many family members through the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Mattie Bell Tompkins; sisters, Willie Reeves and Dorothy Butler; brothers, Edward, Cecil, James Tompkins and Roy Reeves. Frances Henry and Rubye McGarity were very special friends who also preceded her in death. Following her retirement from Lockheed Corporation, in Marietta, Minnie returned to her hometown to live. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Comfort Farms 1032 18th St. Columbus, GA 31901 in honor of her nephew, Kyle Comfort, or plant a dogwood tree in her memory and think of her when it blooms.
