Mr. Harris passed away on March 20, 2016 in Wedowee. Born in Mt. Vernon, Ill. on March 18, 1943, Mr. Harris called Alabama his home for the last 41 years. After retiring from the Army he worked at the former SouthTrust Bank and later at RMC. Fishermen from Alabama to Alaska to Canada to the Gulf of Mexico were proud to know Mr. Harris. His life was filled with joy and purpose. He will be truly missed as the most caring, kind and compassionate man to his family and friends. He will live in our broken hearts forever. Mr. Harris leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Renate Harris; his son, Derek Harris and his wife, Kristi; grandchildren, Shelby, James and Brody, who will all miss their Opa; brothers, Deon Harris, John Harris and his wife, Rita, and William Gilmore and his wife, Charlene; sister, Loretta Callanan; sister-in-law, Margit Klein and her husband, Berthold and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Harris is preceded in death by his parents, Reginald and Ola Sites Harris and a brother, Roger Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Simmons, Milton Daugherty, D.J.
