A funeral service for Mrs. Myrna Degner, 79, will be on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Meadowbrook Baptist Church. Dr. John White will be officiating the service. Burial will follow the service at Forestlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on the same day from noon until service time at the church. Mrs. Degner passed away on October 5, 2017. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Ulrey; grandson, Jake Ulrey; granddaughters, Abby Ulrey and Anna Ulrey; sister, Gail Mangubatt; nephews, Warren Nunnelly, Bryant Nunnelly, and Clay Nunnelly; niece, Leslie Nunnelly; her kittens, Angel, Degner, and Precious, and a host of extended family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Degner and mother, Sammie Simmons. Pallbearers will be family and friends with the Hospital Auxiliary serving as honorary pallbearers. Mrs. Degner was very active at Meadowbrook Baptist Church. She served as the church treasurer and was a member of the choir. Outside of the church, she loved being involved in her community. She served on the Oxford Arts Council, was a Pink Lady, sang in the Community Chorus and was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family and treasured her daughter, grandchildren, and kittens.
