Funeral service for Myrtis Virginia Sams, 90, will be 2 p.m., today at Gray Brown-Service Chapel with Pastor Rickey Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Post Oak Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Survivors include her daughter, Dot Garrett (Lawson); sons, Dewey Sams (Sandra), Johnny Sams (Sherry), Roger Sams (Joann), Danial Sams (Carole), Mitchell Sams and Wayne Sams (Kay); son-in-law, Robert Strickland; sisters, Jocephine Murphy and Anniebell Phillips; brother, Leon Moore; 115 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ms. Sams is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Essie Moore; son, Kenneth Sams; daughter, Guinell Strickland and four grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
