Graveside service for Nathaniel H. Ponder, 75, will be today at 2 p.m. at Nances Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Floyd Willis officiating and Thompson Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Ponder passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at RMC in Anniston. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Nell Ponder; one son, Greg Ponder (Lynn), of Nances Creek; two grandchildren, Clay Ponder and Caley Ponder; two brothers, Hugh Ponder (Carolyn) and Aaron Ponder (Charlotte), all of Nances Creek; one sister, Myrtice Goss, of Nances Creek and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be nephews. Mr. Ponder was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He retired from the Calhoun County Road Department with 35 years of service. He loved hunting and cattle farming. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Fara Ponder and two sisters. The family request no flowers.
