A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Nellie Jo Johnson Estes, 78, will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jacksonville. The burial will be at 3 p.m. at Clear Springs Cemetery in Guntersville. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 tonight at the funeral home. Mrs. Estes passed away on February 28, 2017 in Gadsden. She was born on May 8, 1938 in Guntersville. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville and spent many happy days at Blue Mountain Baptist Church in Anniston, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. Her career as a secretary and office manager led her to Julian Jenkins, Architects in Anniston, where she retired in 1999. Mrs. Estes is preceded in death by her father, J. Sam Johnson; her mother, Elizabeth Seglar Johnson; a brother, Larry Johnson, and an infant daughter. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Neal Estes; her sons, Damon Estes (Elaine) and Joseph Estes; her daughter, Gena Christopher (Odell); sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Jerry Johnson; two special sisters-in-law, Tenia Estes and Marion Estes; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many friends.
