Nina Polk Burns, 67, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Friday, December 23, 2016. Visitation will be held at Miller Funeral Home of Oxford today, December 27, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Miller Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Dennis Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Bynum. Nina was born in Talladega to Delno and Christine Polk on June 25, 1949. She graduated from Oxford High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Jacksonville State University. Nina was married to Donald F. Burns on December 29, 1973 and they were married for 33 years. Nina worked for Herbert Cunningham for over 30 years and for the East Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission for the past decade. She enjoyed traveling and gardening, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Nina is survived by her sons Matthew, Jonathan and Andrew (wife, Amy); her grandchildren, Luke, Ashlyn and Asa; her mother, Christine Polk; brother, Mike Polk (wife, Paula); many dearly loved nieces, nephews and family.
