The funeral service for Mrs. Noriko Tanaka Tinsley, 88, will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with the Reverend Danny Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Tinsley passed away on January 2, 2017 in Gadsden. Mrs. Tinsley was a native of Kobe, Japan and had lived in Weaver since 1959. She was also a member of Good News Assembly of God. She loved Jesus and loved to talk to people about Him. She knew how to touch Heaven with her prayers. Mrs. Tinsley is preceded in death by her husband, of 57 years, Burl A. Tinsley Sr.; a son, Mark L. Tinsley, and a brother, Takeski Tanaka. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Negron and her husband, Miguel, of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; a son, Burl A. Tinsley Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Wendy Flournoy, Heath LuAllen, Nicole Richardson, Bethany Bright, Kaleigh Tinsley, Miranda Waites, and Micah Tinsley; eight great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Sadao Tanaka and Minoru Satsu. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Good News Assembly of God, 1319 Alexandria-Jacksonville Highway, Alexandria, AL 36250.
