A funeral service for Mr. Norman Lamar 'Pookie' Williams, 85, will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. The Rev Don Hamilton will be officiating. Burial will follow at Edgemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home. Mr. Williams passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at RMC, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jenell Adams Williams; children, Vickey Wiggins (Jeff), Normie Scammell (Jay), Lisa Kemp (Cheyenne), Ted Williams (Teresa), Paula Duncan (JW Jr.), and Audrey Carroll (Roger); grandchildren, Kristen Reynolds, Todd Wiggins, Adam Ballenger, Amanda Scammell, Caitlyn Williams, Olivia Williams, Colin Yates, Ella Yates, Haley Duncan, Ashley Carroll-McCarley (Tony McCarley Jr.), Alec Carroll, Avery Carroll (Adriana), Addison Carroll, Aaron Carroll, and Austen Carroll; great grandchildren, Kate Reynolds, Myles Reynolds, Ashten McCarley and Andie McCarley; siblings, Dr. Gladys Sunner, Lewis Williams, Ann Jones (Ralph) and Richard Williams; brother in law, Henry Mullinax (Lona), and a host of extended family members and friends. Mr. Williams is preceded in death by his parents, Lou and Shirley Williams; sisters, Shirley Wilson and Virginia Dorman, and a brother, Donald Williams. Pallbearers will be Mr. Williams grandsons. Mr. Williams graduated from Anniston High School where he was co-captain on the football team. He served proudly 3 years in the United States Army. He began his career at Redstone Arsenal but retired from the Social Security Administration in 1986. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and coaching his children and grandchildren in various sports. He was an avid Alabama football fan. Mr. Williams was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who had the great pleasure of knowing him.
