Funeral service for Mr. Oliver Jones, 86, will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home with son-in-law, Randall Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends on the same day from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Mr. Jones passed away on December 2 at his residence. He is survived by his children, Kathy Bryant (Keith), Paul Jones (Gail), Carey Jones, Donna Taylor (Randy), Rita Turner (Noal), Jim Jones (Deb); grandchildren, Peter Turner (Elizabeth), Miranda Lipham (Rusty), Kellie Crosby(Chris), Kevin Jones, Brandon Taylor (Jennifer), Josh Taylor (Brandi), Koty Bryant (Katy), Kristi Nelson (Jason), Stephanie Hart (Charlie), Shelby Jones and Shay Jones; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Sarah Reaves; brothers, J.D. Jones and Henry Jones. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Hase Jones; sons, Kenny Jones, Garey Jones, Thomas Jones; brothers, Jeff Jones and Lee Jones; sister, Mary Johns. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Jones was an Army Veteran and retired from the civil service. He was a former member of the Calhoun County Civil Defense and also a volunteer with the Coldwater Fire Department. He was also a founding member of Compassionate Friends in Anniston. Mr. Jones enjoyed attending different local churches and thoroughly loved gospel music. He was an avid gardener and had a green thumb. Mr. Jones never met a stranger and made a friend with everyone. Mr. Jones was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who had the great pleasure of knowing him. The family would like to extended a very special thank you to the staff in the RMC ER and the staff on the 4th floor, Dr. Patel, Dr. Chalk, Dr. Ferguson, Dean Pearce, Leslie Howard and the staff of Gentiva Hospice.
