A memorial service for Patricia Ann Norman, 62, currently of Jacksonville, Ala., will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Fort Deposit on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. A local memorial service will be held at a later date. Ms. Norman died on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at her residence after an extended illness. She is survived by her parents, Iris and Ralph Norman Jr; two sisters, Rose Norman and Mary Huff and her husband, Van; one brother, Reyn Norman and his wife, Helen; nieces, Alice Warren and her husband, Andrew, Amy Blackmon and Jessie Langford; one nephew, Ralph Norman and his wife, Brittany; two great nieces and one great nephew. Pat had a wide circle of friends that she kept up with from her childhood in Fort Deposit, her college years at Judson (class of 1972), her graduate work at the University of Alabama (MLS 1973), her years as a librarian (1973-85) at Livingston University (now the University of West Alabama), her years as librarian (1985-02) at the Gadsden State Community College (now McClellan Library), and her friends and neighbors in Jacksonville, especially the other dog walkers. Her friends appreciated her wit, her generosity, her love of animals and her engaging personality. She loved books and old movies, antiques and thrift shops, good restaurants, her cats Charlie and Sookie, and her dogs Leela and Annie, and especially her dogs Maggie and Sophie, and cat Simon, who went before her.
