Paul David Dempsey, 63, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016, at Piedmont Healthcare Center. Survivors include his brother, William "Butch" Dempsey; two sisters, Judy (Job) Stevens and Patricia (Carl) Reaves; two nephews, Eddy (CJ) Starr and Jeremy Reaves; a niece, Amber (Rob) Rayborn; three great-nieces, Brittany (Randy) Phillips, Kealey Starr and Olivia Rayborn; a great-nephew, Justin Foote; and best friend, TC Parris. He was preceded in death by this parents, Russell and Ruby Dempsey. Paul was an accomplished songwriter who had been performing since the sixties. In 1978, he received the ASCAP "Outstanding Country Song" award for his song, "Don't Ever Say Goodbye", which had been recorded by T.G. Sheppard and hit #13 on the U.S. country charts. Mr. Dempsey's family will receive friends on this evening from 6-8 at Miller Funeral Home.
