Paul William Daniels, 62, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends at their residence at 508 Second Avenue in Piedmont today, January 28, 2012, from 1 - 7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mr. Daniels is survived by his wife, Linda Daniels; a son, David Williams (Angela), of Newport, Tennessee; two granddaughters, Marlee Kate and Maya Williams; his mother, Martha Daniels, of Piedmont; one sister, Robyn Daniels, of Tuscaloosa; one brother, Ralph Daniels, of Atlanta, Georgia; one uncle, Herschel Wisebram (Ruth), of Cartersville, Georgia; and numerous cousins. Mr. Daniels was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a graduate of Piedmont High School and attended Jacksonville State University. He was a resident of Israel for six years, was a master gardener, loved to hike the Sinai Desert, was an avid reader, good conversationalist and blogger and had been described in a London newspaper as being a gentle giant. He was preceded in death by his father, George L. Daniels. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions to the Piedmont Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 333, Piedmont, AL 36272. Thompson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
