Funeral service for Mrs. Peggy Joyce Rich Cherry, 79, of Weaver will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with the Reverend Dr. Randy Postell officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Cherry died July 23, 2014 at NHC. Mrs. Cherry was born in Chandler Springs in Talladega County in 1934. She had retired after 31 years with the Federal government of which 15 were at Anniston Army Depot and 16 at Defense Contract Administration. Mrs. Cherry started school in Leeds, spent most of her young years in St. Clair County and finished high school at Pell City High School. She also went on to attend Howard College (now Samford University) for two years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Saks. Mrs. Cherry is preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Cherry and her parents, James Thomas Rich and Susie Elizabeth Mathis Rich. Mrs. Cherry is survived by her sisters, Janice McDonald and her husband, Joe, of Prattville and Susan Williams and her husband, Mike, of Sausalito, Calif.; a brother, Douglas Rich and his wife, Faye, of Jacksonville and four nieces and three nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Golden Jewels Senior Group and the Faith Sunday School Class, both of First Baptist Church of Saks.
