Rena V. Mangum entered this world on January 19, 1926 and exited it on October 24, 2015. She was preceded in death by her one true love, Edward Norman Mangum in 2001; her parents, Mark and Sarah Varey; her biological mother, Kate Christenson; her sister, Frances Varey Johnson. She leaves behind an adoring family consisting of her daughter, Bettye Mangum Thomason (Stanley), of Shelbyville, Tenn.; her son, Gary Mangum (Belinda), of Wellington, Ala.; four grandchildren, Jerry Davis (Stephanie), of Boaz, Ala.; Elizabeth Davis Harris (Jeff), of Birmingham, Eddie Mangum (Jennifer), of Pensacola, Fla.; Tasha Romines (Lee), of Anniston, Ala.; six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews. Rena worked at Anniston Army Depot as an Inventory Management Specialist in the Directorate of Supply from 1957 - 1992 when she retired. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle solver and Alabama football fan, despite her upbringing in Minnesota. She was an accomplished seamstress and spent many hours in front of the sewing machine. In her later years she was known throughout the Wellington community for her collection of always stylish hats. Funeral service for Mrs. Mangum will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with the Reverends Tommy Miller and Larry Bollinger officiating. The family will receive friends from 12-1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to Wellington First Baptist Church.
