Memorial service with military honors for Retired Airborne Infantry Lieutenant Colonel Robert Byrom, 87, of Jacksonville, will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the chapel of K.L. Brown Funeral Home. His family will receive friends after the service. LTC Byrom passed away December 5, 2017 at Regional Medical Center after a service related illness. LTC Byrom was a native of Georgia, raised in New York City and a longtime resident of Jacksonville. He was a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel. LTC Byrom and his wife were the former owners/operators of Paints Crafts and Hobbies. He was a professor of Military Science at JSU. LTC Byrom is preceded in death by his parents, Hardwick and Emma Lou Byrom; son, COL Robin Keith Byrom. LTC Byrom is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Byrom; children, Pamela Byrom (Jim Selman), Kevin Byrom (Mae), COL Jon Byrom (Erin); grandchildren, Jason Selman, Jesse Selman, Regan Brewer, Ashlee Tierney, Joshua Byrom, Ruston Byrom, Liam Byrom, Kai Byrom, Kiara Byrom, Teyla Byrom; great-grandchildren, Aiden Selman, Jonah Selman, Rowan Brewer, Cade Brewer; sister, Emma Jones; brother, Franklin Byrom; and numerous nieces and nephews.
