Funeral service with full military honors for Retired Staff Sergeant David Lee Nichols, 72, will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Mr. Nichols died Friday at his home. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Judith P. Nichols; sons, David A. Nichols (Lynn), of Wellington; daughters, Fawn M. Battles (Keith), of Southside and Summer D. McNeal (Brandon), of Weaver; grandchildren, Matt and Will Nichols, Michael Parks (Desti), Mikayla Parks, Jodi and Kaycee Battles, Viktorija McNeal, Ali McNeal and Aida McNeal; sister, Carla Sorg (Mike), of Goshen, Ind. and brother-in-law, Lee Collins, of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Nichols and his sisters, Barbara Collins and Louise Collins (Dewey). Mr. Nichols served in Vietnam and was retired from the U. S. Army and Anniston Army Depot. He was a member of the American Legion and the DAV. The family requests memorial donations be made to the DAV.
