Funeral service for Rev. Jerry Dyer, 71, will be Friday, April 15, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Hooper and the Rev. Jerry Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Dyer passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Dyer, of Piedmont; a daughter, Amy Blankenship (Jack), of Piedmont; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn Frost, Hunter Rogerson, Dylan Rogerson, Jack Blankenship Jr., Jack Blankenship II and Jessica Blankenship; one great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Walker; three sisters, Levon Godfrey and Mary McPherson (Jack), all of Centre and Janice Brown (Willard), of Piedmont; one brother, Terry Dyer (Brenda), of Wellington; several nieces and nephews; and special daughter, Misty Shepard. Pallbearers will be Henry Puckett, Danny Pointer, George Johnson, Faron Butler, Donnie Butler and Harold Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be all nephews. Rev. Dyer was a longtime resident of Piedmont. He was a dedicated Pastor and served at many churches in Cherokee and Calhoun Counties. He retired from Garcy Corporation and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jerry Dyer Jr.; mother, Mary Fagan; father, Jewell Dyer; two brothers, Leonard Dyer and Bobby Dyer. www.thompsonfuneralhomepiedmont.com
