A celebration of life for the Rev. Jimmy Minter, 68, was held at 11 a.m. on Monday December 28, 2015, in the chapel at Miller Funeral Home with Charles Stone, Craig McClure and Donald Peterson officiating. Graveside service followed at Open Door Baptist Church in Delta, of which was founded by the Rev. Minter. The Rev. Minter was born June 9, 1947 in Anniston. He enjoyed a life full of preaching, fishing, hunting, woodwork, spending time with family and sharing the love of Jesus to anyone he met. He was a Godly leader who inspired his family and all who knew him. He went home to meet his Savior on December 24, 2015 after an extended sickness over the last year. Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Carolyn Minter, of Lineville; 4 daughters, Rachel Hill (Michael), of Wedowee, Alicia Maddox (Randy), of Oxford, Christy Peterson (Donald), of Wedowee and Jamie Minter, of Wedowee; a son, Will Davis (Sissie), of Lineville; 2 sisters, Sarah Delong (Jim), of Anniston and Hilda Sevison, of Anniston; a brother, Glyn Minter, of Oxford; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents, John Edward and Myrtle Minter and one sister, Martha Adams. Pallbearers were Tim Radney, Todd Radney, Josh Davis, Chris Davis, Clint Hill and Anthony Allen.
