Funeral service for Richard A. Box, 86, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gray Brown Service Mortuary. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Box passed away Saturday in Anniston. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Box; daughter, Joan Mack (Robert); sons, Richard Box (Maliea), Robert Box (Toni) and Jimmy Box; brother, Gerald Box (Betty); grandchildren, Kevin Lee Mack, Nancy E. (Box) Jones, Lauren E. Mack, Austin Box, Kyle A. Mack and Sarah Isabella Box; great-grandchildren, Autumn Mack, Amy Mack, Amelia Mack and Ava Jones, McKenzie Jones; several nieces and nephews and his little dog Candi. Mr. Box is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lillie Box; seven sisters and two brothers. Pallbearers will be Ronald Edwards, Jerry Thornton, Troy Kilgore, Charles Hess, Woody Wilson and Charles Acker. Mr. Box was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a graduate of Anniston High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Anniston Star after 50 years of service. He was Methodist by faith and loved the outdoors, woodworking, music and most of all his grandchildren.
