Richard Carl Hollis, 77, of Oxford, Alabama went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2018, at the Jacksonville Health and Rehab. Born November 4, 1940 in Florida to the late John and Vera Hollis. Mr. Hollis is survived by his son, Scott Hollis; daughter-in-law, Michelle Hollis; grandchildren, Isabella and Brandon Hollis of Sonora KY. Mr. Hollis is preceded in death by his brother, David Hollis. Mr. Hollis was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving 25 years as a motor sergeant and maintenance officer and serving several tours in Korea. After retiring from the military, Mr. Hollis worked as a civilian in the tank division and tanker schools in training armor personnel at Fort Knox, KY, and Fort Bragg, NC. He retired from Anniston Army Depot in 2005 where he was employed in the turbine engine department. Mr. Hollis was a generous charitable person. He enjoyed cruising to various countries, fishing, playing cards, and socializing with friends at the old 220 Club at Anniston Army Depot and the 1111 Club with his "Bama Gang". He was an avid NASCAR and Alabama Football Fan. A memorial celebration of Mr. Hollis' life will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2018, starting at 5:00 p.m. at the Desoto Past Time Center at Anniston Army Depot.
