Mr. Rickey J. Murray was born on October 7, 1960 to the late Otis C. Murray Jr. and Doris Ann Brown Murray in Anniston. Rickey received his high school education at Anniston High School and was a member of the proud "Class of 1979". He also attended both Auburn and Jackson State University. Mr. Murray was employed by U.S. Air Force and Department of Veteran Affairs and after 31 years of devoted service, he retired. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Rickey was united in holy matrimony to Desiree Allen on February 9, 1985 at Maxwell Air force Base in Montgomery. From this union came two sons, Eric and Desmond. Mr. Murray departed from this life on January 18, 2015 at his home Prattville. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Desmond Murray; uncles and aunts, Darnell Murray, Roosevelt Murray, Willie Mae Murray, Mary Elizabeth Burke, Kattie Goodman and great-niece, Brooklynne Murray. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Desiree, of Prattville; son, Eric Murray, of Prattville; two brothers, Randy Murray, of Anniston and Ronald (Debra) Murray, of Grovetown, Ga.; brother-in-law, Frank Allen; uncles and aunts, Thelma Hadley, of Anniston, Doris Lewis, of Birmingham, Davis Murray, of Columbus, Miss. and Larry (Janette) Murray, of Chicago, Ill.; nieces and nephew, Stephanie and Saniyah Murray, of Jackson, Miss. and Ronald (Latoya) Murray Jr., of Irving, Texas; a host of other family members and friends. He also leaves three special cousins, Diane Russell, Dreke (Keisha) Hendrix and Wynika (Eddie) Palmer. A viewing will be held at Ervin Funeral Chapel on Friday, January 23 at 6 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 24 at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with the burial at 3 p.m. at Prattville Memorial Chapel and Memory Gardens.
