Rita Faye Comer, 62, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016, from a heart attack associated with diabetes at her home. Ms. Comer was born March 22, 1954 in Anniston and was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County. She was a registered nurse, graduating in 1982 with an Associate Degree in Nursing from Gadsden State. Ms. Comer served the residents of Calhoun County and the surrounding area as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Regional Medical Center for the majority of her career. She lovingly and compassionately assisted with the births of thousands of children during her career spanning more than 30 years. In her youth, Ms. Comer was baptized in the Lord's church and she raised her two daughters, along with their father, in the love and obedience of the Lord. Ms. Comer had five grandchildren and was know to them as Ri-Ri, the name given to her by her eldest granddaughter. She loved each of her grandchildren dearly and they brought her much joy. Rita Comer was a beloved sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. Ms. Comer is survived by her daughters, Tara Turner Dale and husband, Adam, of Oxford and Lana Turner Parker and husband, Chris, of Newnan, Ga.; sister, Teresa Wells and husband, Wayne, of Saks; brother, Chuck Comer, of Jacksonville; three granddaughters, Savannah, Cloie and Claire Dale; two grandsons, Jackson and Logan Parker; two nieces, Tiffany Messer and husband, Chad and Tasca Wells; three nephews, Brent Comer, Jonathan Smith and Stoney Noell; two great-nephews, Coleman and Luke Messer; three great-nieces, Hazley, Leah and Lexi Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Bettie Comer; her sister, Donna Smith and her nephew, Brandon Noell. Friends are invited to join the family at a memorial service planned for 5 p.m., today, September 21, 2016, at Miller Funeral Home Chapel, 50 Hamric Drive East, Oxford. Ms. Comer's sons-in-law, Dr. James Daniel and Mike Benson will officiate the service. The family will welcome and receive visitors immediately following the memorial service.
