Robert "Bob" Austin Thrasher, 64, passed peacefully on July 21, 2015, in Birmingham, Alabama. He is survived by his daughter, Melinda Thrasher; grandson, Max Powers; as well as his mother, Vernice; brother, Hubert and sisters Jan and Debbie. He served our country in the Army and worked most of his life as a mechanic. Bob will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, road trips, camping and fishing. His best friends describe him as their "brother from another mother". He was always willing to help a friend in need. Bob enjoyed the simple pleasures of family and friends, happy in jeans with a t-shirt, stubborn but easy-going with a kind smile and a great laugh. A memorial for friends and family will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday July 26, 2015, at the Hilton Gardens Inn in Oxford. Burial will be at a later date, please contact the family for an invitation. In lieu of flowers, please consider offering financial assistance to the family or make a donation to the Veterans Administration.
