Funeral service for Robert C. Strickland, 82, will be today, December 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home. Dr. John White will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 10 until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Strickland passed away on Monday at his residence. Survivors include daughter, Danielle Kiser (Michael); daughter, Denise Nowland (Rodney); son, David Harmon (Wendy); daughter, Marie Jochum; daughter, Mary Wallace; daughter, Penny Williams; brother, Jerre Strickland (Connie); 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Zach Kiser, Anthony Kiser, Jake Kiser, Blake Nowland, Sawyer Nowland and Ryan Harmon. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Carolyn Strickland; parents, Brad and Beuna Strickland. Mr. Strickland was a lifelong member of Meadow Brook Baptist Church and active in the men's ministries. He worked for Alabama Power Company, as part of the high line crew for 40 years+ with the highest response on call outs, he retired in 1996. Mr. Strickland enjoyed wood working after retirement and then delivered papers for the Anniston Star. He was an avid extreme fan of the Atlanta Braves, loved fishing and spending time with his family. He always responded to Danielle with I Love you too "Shug" and she was able to hold his hand as he took his last breathe. He will be remembered as a very kind and soft spoken man. Mr. Strickland was always ready to lend a helping hand when others needed it. Mr. Stickland severed from 1953 - 1955 during the Korean Conflict.
