A celebration of life service for Robert Charles "Robby" Chandler, 46, will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2015, at the Golden Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Derek Staples and Pastor David Hodnett officiating. A reception will follow immediately in the Christian Activity Center within the Church. At Robby's request, his remains will be scattered at sea with full military honors. Robby was born on November 22, 1968 in Anniston to Sue and Scotty Chandler and he entered into rest Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the UAB Medical Center. Robby is survived by his children, Stuart Chandler, Kristen Chandler, Liam Chandler and Kelsey Chandler; his mother and step-father, Sue and Doug Stanfield; brothers, Scott Chandler and Todd Chandler; by his step-sister, Dee Dee Henderson; several nieces and nephews and his future wife, Kathan Spears. Robby was a 1987 graduate of Oxford High School. He made a career serving in the US Navy and US Coast Guard before retiring and returning to Oxford. He worked at Anniston Army Depot for 4 years. Robby was currently a student at South Eastern Bible College where he was studying to be a substance abuse counselor. Robby left us with a treasure book of memories. He never lacked appreciation for others or failed to express it. He looked for the best in others and gave the best that he had. Robby was quick to express the love, joy and grace that he received from his Heavenly Father daily. Robby was preceded in death by his father, Scotty Loran Chandler, Sr. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to 3 Hots and A Cot at or to the Wounded Warrior Project at Miller Funeral Home & Crematory Oxford, AL (256) 831-4611 A Brown Service Authorized Funeral Home.
