The funeral service for Robert Gary O'Steen, 78, will be at noon on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs with Dr. Mack Amis and Dr. Billy Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home. Mr. O'Steen passed away on May 31, 2016 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. Mr. O'Steen was a 1956 graduate of Anniston High School where he excelled in football. He went on to play for Coach Bear Bryant at The University of Alabama. Mr. O'Steen was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church and the Anchor Sunday School Class. He was a member of The University of Alabama "A" Club and the Anniston Quarterback Club. He served for six years in the Alabama National Guard. Mr. O'Steen is preceded in death by his parents, W.L. and Lois O'Steen and a brother, John Isaac "Ike" O'Steen. He is survived by his wife, Scarlett Owen O'Steen; his daughters, Ashley O'Steen Tountasakis and her husband, Andrew, Bradley O'Steen McLaughlin and her husband, Doug, and Jennifer O'Steen Hayes and her husband, Josh; step-sons, Robby Owen and his wife, Kelly, and Gary Sides and his wife, Sarah; grandchildren, Drew Tountaskakis, Alex Tountasakis, Laurel McLaughlin, Macallister McLaughlin, Stella Grace deGraffenried, Caroline deGraffenried, Jessica Sides, Kyle Sides and Lane Sides; a brother, Henry Ward O'Steen and his wife, Lyndel; and nieces and nephews, Tiffany Ray and her husband, Doug, Hank O'Steen Jr., Callie O'Steen Brust and her husband, Adam, Jessica Ray, Meredith Ray, Ella Claire Ray, Will O'Steen and Walker O'Steen. Pallbearers will be Andrew Tountasakis, Doug McLaughlin, Josh Hayes, Doug Ray, Hank O'Steen Jr., Drew Tountasakis, Alex Tountasakis, teammates from Anniston High School and teammates from The University of Alabama.
