Funeral service for Rodney Charles Sturkie Sr., 46, will be on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at noon at the WAC Chapel, 68 Galloway Rd., Building 2293, Ft. McClellan. Interment with military honors will follow in Anniston Memorial Gardens. Mr. Sturkie passed away on August 13, 2015. Mr. Sturkie's remains will arrive at the church one hour prior to his service. He was a 1987 honors graduate from Anniston High School where he excelled in football. He was a Deacon at Bread of Life Ministries Church. He served in the United States Marine Corps thirteen years, Marine Reserve two years and Army National Guard for eleven years. He was employed with the United States Postal Service as a Postmaster. Survivor include his wife, Rhonda Sturkie; his children, Rodney Sturkie Jr. and Rhitney Sturkie; his mother, Isabell Sturkie; father and mother- in-law, Luther and Beverly Nolan; brothers-in-law, William Lee, Kevin (Fatima) Nolan and Michael Nolan; his siblings: Lenora Sturkie, Lewis (Joann) Sturkie, Sarah (Redell) Barritt, Edward (Annetta) Sturkie, James (Sarah) Collins, Shirley Jones, Dennis (Carla) Sturkie, Malinda Bell, Vernessa Sturkie, Alesia Cypress, Andre Collins, Wayne (Debra) Collins, Evelyn (Paul) Lewis, Jason (Jodie) Collins and Tammy Nelson; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Charles Sturkie; grandparents, Charlie Ford, Eva Jane Sturkie, Willie Collins, Vadie Collins Williams and sister, Ona Lynette Bethune.
