Mr. Roger Dale Thompson, 62, husband of Mrs. Brenda Groomes Thompson, was born on December 26, 1953 and he entered into rest on Monday, December 12, 2016, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his father, Roger T. Thompson. Mr. Thompson was born in Heflin. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a retired truck driver and a member of New Beginnings Church where he served as a Deacon. Survivors include his wife, Branda Groomes Thompson, of Aiken, S.C.; his mother, Jane Marie Alvis Thompson, Heflin; a daughter, Monica Benjamin, Peachtree City, Ga.; two sons, Christopher Gray, North Augusta, S.C. and Sean Gray, Hephzibah, Ga.; four brothers, Edwin Thompson (Lori), Rossville, Ga., Wayne Thompson, Heflin, Danny Thompson, Helena, Richard Brannon (Beverly), Campbell, Texas; a sister, Karen Reaves, Heflin; nine grandchildren, Steven and Colton Benjamin, Brittany, Bailey, Bryson and Bridgette Gray and Dustin, Savannah and Madison Gray, and several nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. A Celebration of Life service will be on Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Hatcher Funeral Home & Cremation Service Chapel with Pastor Roger R.
