Service for Roland V. Cronan, 92, will be Friday, April 24, 2015 at 12 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Garry Brown and the Rev. Michael Ingram officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 11-12 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Cronan passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Dugger Mountain Assisted Living. Survivors include one sister-in-law, Peggy Cronan; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Danny and Gail Pointer. Pallbearers will be Gordon Kirby, Ronnie Morrow, Glen Frachiseur, Sparks Harper, John Nelson, and Danny Pointer. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Ed Coogler Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont. Mr. Cronan was a native and life long resident of Piedmont. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and had retired from SCT Yarn. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont and Lozahatchee Masonic Lodge #97 F&AM. He also participated in the invasion of Normandy Beach. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jennings Cronan; son, Don Cronan; daughter-in-law, Robin Cronan; parents, Ben and Eva Cronan; brothers, Earl Cronan, Kenneth Cronan, Roy Cronan, Earnest "8rock" Cronan, Johnny Cronan, and Bill Cronan; and sister, Thelma Hollingsworth. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Piedmont, 105 N. Main Street, Piedmont, AL 36272 or to Piedmont Rescue Squad, P.O. BOX 333, Piedmont, AL 36272.
