Piedmont - Rosary and Mass for Rose Marie Schneider Prater, 87, will be today, April 25, 2012, at 1 p.m. at St. Joachim Catholic Church with the Rev. James Macey officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Prater passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Spears (Jack), of Piedmont; one son, Brian Prater (Vicki), of Anniston; three grandsons, Patrick Prater (Crystal), of Jacksonville, Mark Prater, of Saks and Andrew Prater of Jacksonville, Fla.; two great-granddaughters, Priscilla McCurdy and Katlyn Prater; and special cousins, Bernadette Blum, of Washington, D.C., Tommy Blum, of Fitzgerald, Ga., Mark Blum, of St. Louis, Mo. and Mary Blum Dahlem of Kirkland, Missouri. Pallbearers will be Patrick Prater, Mark Prater, Andrew Prater, Billy Baker, Terry Amberson and Don Glover. Mrs. Prater was born in Vineland, New Jersey on April 21, 1925 and had been a resident of Piedmont since 1945. She retired from the City of Piedmont Water and Gas Department and was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Catherine Schneider; and sisters, Teresa Schneider, Joan Jefferies and infant Bonnie Schneider.
