Rose Z. Tinsley Stewart passed away Jan. 22, 2014. She was born in Anniston to the union of Annie Pearl Hudgins and Joe Tinsley Jr. Rose was baptized at an early age at the Mount Zion Baptist Church and was active in Sunday school, B.T.U., all worship services and special programs. Rose attended and graduated from Anniston Public School and a private, prestigious Presbyterian school. Rose enrolled in a business school and concurrently worked as an apprentice mortician and secretary for Davenport and Harris Funeral Home and Insurance Company. It was here that she met and married Louie J. Stewart, the manager and undertaker - a marriage enjoyed in excess of 60 years. The couple moved to Louisville, Ky. where Rose continued her employment as the secretary/receptionist for a well-known surgeon and commenced training as a laboratory technician. She united with Zion Baptist Church where she was an active member for over 64 years and chaired several organizations and sung soprano in the "Voices of Praise". Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Louie J. Stewart; her parents, Joe and Annie Tinsley; a sister, Thelma Tinsley Rivers; a brother, James A. Tinsley Sr.; nieces, Veronica Tinsley Douglas and Annie Pearl Range; grandmother, Lona L. Hudgins and great-grandmother, Mariah Lockett. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, nephews, Deacon James A. Tinsley Jr. ( Mary), Chester, Va.; Robert L. Tinsley, Arlington, Va. , Charles H. Stewart Jr. and Carle L. Stewart Sr. and a niece Erea S. Marshall (Eric), all of Louisville, Ky. and a host of relatives and friends.
