A Memorial Service for Mr. Roy Lee Tate, 74, of Piedmont, will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Golden Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Roland P. Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 pm until 2 pm on Friday at the church. Mr. Tate passed away on December 28, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Tate was born in August 3, 1943 in Texas. He attended The University of Texas in Austin. He went on to serve in the US Army for 2 years and then worked as an environmental consultant, spending a lot of time working with Lee Brass, until his death. He became a member of Golden Springs Baptist Church in 1985. He enjoyed spending time with his family at his home in Rabbittown. Mr. Tate's hobbies included carpentry, music, and working on his MG convertible. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Violet Tate; three brothers, Jack, James, and David; and two sisters, LaRue and Margaret. Mr. Tate is survived by his wife of 49 years, Darlene Tate; a son, Roy Lee "Duce" Tate, II and his wife, Laura; and his grandchildren, Molly and Raylee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Golden Springs Baptist Church, 3 Robertson Road, Anniston, AL 36207. Online condolences may be made to the family at K.L.
